Hinika was officially (and internationally) launched in Milan!

Check out the Hinika Milan 2013 webpage on this site for some photos. Also click on the link below to see more images of the event on the Hinika Facebook site.
It was an amazing show with thousands and thousands of visitors. An unbelievable turn out although being in Zona Tortona almost guarantees big crowds. With freezing temperatures for the first few days we were worried that people might not want to venture out. But as the weather warmed up the crowds just got bigger and bigger.

Now it's time to sort through all the business cards and contact all the people who so kindly came up to speak with us. As we continue to develop the Hinika brand and it's range of products, start looking out for it in shops worldwide! It wont be long.

A big and very exciting announcement!
Jarrod Lim Design has recently founded a new brand of furniture called Hinika. (Although some of the range has been displayed at different shows it is now officially launched!)
"Hinika looks to employs the skills and experience of some of Asia's best craftsmen and combines it with a remarkably international design perspective" - thanks to JLD. Most importantly we will make sure that Hinika products are beautifully designed and extremely high quality.

So look forward to updates on the new brand as it develops

The Hinika website has been launched and shows most of the first collection. We hope to build on this as time goes by.

It's been a busy couple of months for JLD. A lot of work has been happening in the background for various hotel and resort projects. Although it's very exciting working on the designs, unfortunately they wont be seen until the hotel is opened which is still a long time off. A slow process but quite satisfying.

A quick update on the website.

Upcoming projects in the pipeline include the new Hinika range to be released at the upcoming Milan show in 2013. Some of these products were included as part of the AHEC booth design so click the above link for a quick preview of the new designs
Jarrod is off to Myanmar this week for an exciting new interior project with the AGC glass company. A small but interesting interior design focusing on the use of glass in the various rooms of the house.
So expect to see glass kitchens, glass bathrooms, glass everything!

A sincere apology to all those who tried to access the Jarrod Lim Design website over the past few days as the website was blocked by Google. They had discovered some suspicious files had been uploaded onto the site.
A very unpleasant experience to have the website hacked and used for someone elses evil purposes. An even more unpleasant experience trying to get it back online and make sure everything is ok.

It's been a long time since I have written an update on here. Most updates now appear on the Jarrod Lim Design Facebook page. Please check it out with the link below where you can see more regular updates.

Things have been moving along very quickly with Jarrod Lim Design. New projects, new people and a lot more travel.
We are currently working on a whole new range of products that we hope to launch in the coming months under our own new brand name. It's all a big secret at the moment but will be ready soon.
We're still working with Innermost on several new products as well as some new companies in Italy and the USA. Exciting stuff!

I was recently featured on Singapore Channel 8 TV show Art effects discussing the differences and similarities in Art and Design. A nice bit of promotion.
And of course coming-up soon is the annual trek to Milan. Yes it's almost that time of year again for all designers, journalists and anyone vaguely interested in design to converge in one location and queue up for panini's.

I'll probably see you in the queue!

Well my Milan recovery period was very short, with trips to Hong Kong and China the week after returning. Tomorrow, off to China again.

A few exciting developments did occur in the past month. Most notably the launch of PP Gallery in Shenzhen China. The PP Gallery is housed in an old factory district which is being converted into designer offices and showrooms. PP is the first to open there but it will soon have many more, with some big-name brands already booked to move in. Starbucks is already there. Surprise, surprise. But it's going to be a really nice area and China is really pushing ahead in design. Its an exciting place.

The launch of the gallery was a really nice event with the Innermost brand being the main attration within the showroom. I was invited as a guest of the opening to present the Hi Ho Rocking horse and Koi chair to some journalists and VIPs. A great experience overall.

Thank you to everyone who came to visit both the Satellite Stand and the Innermost stand in Milan this past April. We had an amazing response to all the new designs and several of them are now for sale at some very cool stores such as Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, Heals in London and many other local design showrooms.

Now that Milan is finished for another year its time to take stock and also take a rest. Every year we say 'next time we'll be more prepared, more organised, and less stressed' and every years it's the same thing. Rushing around, last minute delivery, printing brochures, updating websites, stickers, flights, hotels, apartments etc etc etc. But it must all be worth it since we do it every year.

So we look forward to another instalment in 2012 and this time we'll make sure we're fully prepared by January.

It's almost time to leave for Milan again and show the world some of my new works.

This year we will have a booth at Salone Satellite in
Hall 24
Booth C1

So anyone who's coming through the Salone I hope you can stop by and say hello.

Also this year we will be showing several new designs at the Innermost booth at :

Zegna Headquarters
56a Via Savone
Tortona. Milan

There's a whole host of excellent British companies displaying their products there so it is really worthwhile heading down to that one. Click the link below to see more.

So anyone heading to Milan I look forward to meeting up with you.

Happy Chinese New Year! Hope the rabbit brings us all some good luck.

The Hi Ho Rocking Horse and Koi chair received a great response at Maison and Objet Paris.
Thanks to everyone who dropped by the Innermost Booth.

Jarrod has just returned from a trip to Indonesia gathering some amazing new ideas.
Looking forward to the International Furniture Fair Singapore, 9th - 12th March, where JLD will be giving a sneak preview of some of the upcoming products to be launched in Milan in April

Its been another year since the last update. How time flies. But Jarrod Lim Design has not been sitting around relaxing. Far from it. Several projects have been completed over the past year including the design and layout of a major exhibition for young designers in Singapore called Platform. Also a store for Nanyang Optical based around sustainability issues and many pieces of furniture for new and existing clients. It has been a busy year but a very favourable one. Jarrod Lim Design will be setting up a new office in the near future and preparing for further developments after Salone del Mobile in Milan 09. There are many new projects in the pipeline and we hope to create some really innovative yet well considered designs for each of them.

Its been a long time between updates and now its that time of year again. Time for the Salone del Mobile in Milan! This year Jarrod Lim Design will be exhibiting at two locations in conjunction with several partners from Singapore. At Salone Satellite stand C29, Jarrod will be exhibiting a selection of new designs presented through Exit Design, a forward thinking furniture company from Singapore. In Zona Tortona, Jarrod will be presenting as part of the Blueprint fashion design collaboration alongside world renowned designer Nicholas. This is a partnership that has spawned two new designs for Jarrod, the Cuff chair and the Collar magazine rack. Both of these pieces were inspired by the unique fashion collections of Nicholas and will be on display at Showroom Bagutta, Via Tortona 35. Please feel free to come and visit. Look forward to seeing you all in Milan!

It has been a very busy year for Jarrod Lim Design. With much travelling required and a lot of new products launched onto the market, this has kept everyone busy. Jarrod has spent most of his time developing new pieces for the Gallery Hotel Singapore and other specialised projects, as well as designing some exciting new ranges for his existing manufacturing clients. Currently Jarrod is working on several new projects including a partnership with renowned fashion designer Nicholas, for some interesting furniture concepts to be launched jointly in Milan and Singapore in 2008.

Jarrod now has a new mobile phone number for Singapore. It is 8200 1755.

In 2008 Jarrod Lim Design will be exhibiting several pieces in the Cologne Furniture Fair, the International Furniture Fair Singapore and Salone Del Mobile Milan.

After several trips back and forth to China and Europe, Jarrod is back in Singapore setting up his studio. On 8th October Jarrod will be flying off to Beijing for the Design for China, International Design Project, before flying to Japan at the beginning of November for Tokyo Design Week.

Back in Melbourne and back to work. Hoping to catch up with a lot of people before flying back overseas.

After an inspiring visit to the Milan furniture fair, meeting some really great people over there, Jarrod has returned once again to Singapore to continue doing some work there. Milan was a strange mix this year. The main fairgrounds were good but some of the fanfare seems to be missing. The Tortona area has become even more prominent this year and played host to some of the most ineresting exhibits, possibly taking some of the limelight away from the main fairgrounds.

Jarrod has just arrived back in Singapore from a tour of China after visiting several furniture exhibitions and meeting with many new clients. On this trip Jarrod also gave lectures to over 1000 students in Changsha. Many thanks to WK WU, Tom Zhu, Jason Guo, Mao Han and Jenny for helping to make this trip go so smoothly. On the 15th April Jarrod is leaving for Milan to visit the furniture fair and catch up with friends.

Jarrod has just returned to Singapore from a trip to Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok where he visited clients and each city's Furniture Fairs. On 15/7/2007 Jarrod leaves for China to visit more clients and more furniture exhibitions before returning to Singapore on the 9th April.

Jarrod is returning to Singapore to present a new range of outdoor furniture at the International Furniture Fair Singapore. If you are visiting the IFFS, please come and visit his stand in Hall 1. In Singapore you can contact him on his Singapore number (+65) 9371 0368 as well as his usual contact details.

Jarrod is currently back in Melbourne working on some new projects that arose from his last trip to Singapore. He will be in Melbourne for another 3 weeks before preparing to return to Asia and travel further to Italy and England.

Jarrod is currently in Singapore meeting clients while researching Singapore's design culture and the rapid growth of their creative industries.

While in Singapore Jarrod can be contacted on Singapore mobile phone number 9371 0368 as well as his usual contact details.
